Hi, I run a Schuberth E1 with their SC 10U comms (made by Sena). this rig works just fine with TFT as does my older Sena 20s evo. The Schuberth C4 offers very nice integration with a plug in chip set and plug in battery. The antenna, mic and headphones are all pre- installed into the helmet shell. The only problem is that the chipset is made by Cardo and I can't say for sure from personal experience how compatible it is with TFT. I do notice that Schuberth now offer an upgraded chipset for the C4 helmet known as the SC 2. Users of the older SC 1 system may have problems pairing to TFT. Someone out there must have tried it by now?

I have the E1 with SRC collar from Cardo. It pairs with the phone alright but as soon as I try connecting it with TFT it fails. Cardo released updates for Packtalk but no updates for SRC are planned I have been informed. I have the Packtalk too but haven't tried it yet. Was looking forward to continue using the collar SRC but if it won't work after few more attempts then I'll switch over to Packtalk.

When I paired my phone to the SRC, I couldn't connect with the TFT. I cleared all pairings and started over:

1. Pair phone to TFT
2. Pair SRC (1st phone connect) to TFT
3. Pair SRC (2nd phone connect and not intercom) to Nav VI

It works fine, now.

Here is a strange one. I was having intermittent connection problems from the TFT to my Sena unit. About 2 out of 6 times it wouldn't connect to my Sena but it would connect to my phone 9 out of 10 times. I have the latest code in both the TFT and the Sena. The dealer suggested I install the "BMW Motorrad Connected" app and start it before I turn on my bike. It's been about 2 weeks and I'll be darn if the TFT hasn't connected to my helmet every time. I don't understand why an app in my phone would enable my Sena to connect to the TFT but it works. I'm very skeptical but so far so good.

As with most things technical, it is always wise to check for the latest updates. I have downloaded the newest App and my TFT firmware was also upgraded. BMW say that they will only guarantee reliable connectivity if you use their system helmet but they acknowledge that other Bluetooth systems should also work. The correct procedure for pairing is:- a) delete all previous pairings.
b) pair TFT to your phone.
c) pair TFT to helmet comms.
Any other procedure or signal flow combinations will most likely cause problems. (I don't like to use comms setup Apps like Cardo Smart Set, as they require a Bluetooth connection between phone and comms that will conflict with the TFT requirements). Regardless of which manufacturer made your comms, it is a good idea to check the Bluetooth specs. TFT is quoted as a 4.2 Bluetooth devise and it won't like playing with anything less than 4.1 spec. Unfortunately, Cardo don't seem to want to print their Bluetooth specs. This is one of the reasons that I prefer Sena gear. Also, I believe that Sena designed the electronics for BMW System Helmets. Maybe this is why their gear seems to be more stable with TFT. I use a Schuberth E1 with Schuberth SC 10 U comms (made by Sena) and a 2017 Samsung Android phone. This rig is 100% reliable with TFT and media playback sounds fantastic. I am pretty sure that other people are also getting good reliable results with other rigs and saved plenty of money rather than going down the recommended BMW System Helmet route.

Same issue here! I feel your pain. I’ve started the app before the ride.....not really any help. I have an earlier 2018 firmware on the bike so just saying.

Reliability...... this may be too much info but here it goes.

So I upgraded from a iPhone 7 to 10 (x) apples newest.
It connects better than the iPhone 7 did, more often.
The 7 connected 3 out of 10 rides.....
The 10 (x) 7 out of 10. That is the only thing I changed...the phone.

So what I’m saying is.....maybe during the bikes start-up time and connecting....my newer phone is better with Bluetooth and the bike can see that device better? Higher signal strength?

I have thought about adding a phone mount on bike so it’s available and close to the bike all the time during initial power up +3 minutes. i.e. .... Sometimes I fire the bike up, walk 10ft away to grab something...and my guess is the connectivity times out in those few seconds...?

Not a pro at Bluetooth...but seems if BMW could increase the range of receiving signals.... might be better.

Yes this procedure works all the time. Recently the TFT was upgraded to the latest version and now to connect I first pair my phone with the TFT and then the TFT with my helmet. The navigation in the TFT only works with Motorrad app. I tried Google maps and maps.me but the navigation remains inactive.
Coming back to Bluetooth connection, once I had the TFT connection sub menu remain inactive after I started the bike which was unusual. It takes 5 minutes to connect once the TFT is powered up

Hi Mike,

can you confirm that your SRC collar works with the TFT? I have paired my phone to the TFT and the SRC too, but I no sound is transmitted during phone calls. Only media playback and navigation sound works for me.
