Good morning all:

I wondered if anyone has installed the BMW LED turn signals on a newer GS or specifically a GSA? Watched YouTube video from Max BMW on an older GS, rear signals look easy and looking at bike, present no problem. I read somewhere the beak and the tank skin has to come off to plug new LED stalks in. In video on older bike, the tech reached under the beak near the front forks and found the plugs there. If more disassembly is necessary, has anyone done this and can provide some general step-by-step pointers or tips? I don't want to do more work than necessary or damage anything in the removal/replacement. I've had the from bodywork off my K1600 a number of times, but never on this bike. Thanks for any help anyone might have!

I installed the LED bulbs. They were about $100 for the four, but a quick in and done. Very bright, and a big difference than stock bulbs!
However, if you are looking for a different "look", these are not for you. I didn't mind the hardware, and wanted increased brightness.

Thanks for your reply, sir. I looked at plug in LED "bulbs" and they ARE both brighter and half the cost of the BMW LED stalks. I figured the one piece deals from BMW might be more reliable and I know they use less current. The plug in type "bulbs" use a 10W resistor to simulate the incandescent bulb so the CanBUS thinks they are still there, so no LAMP failure alert, and no reprogramming required either. I guess I liked the minimalistic look to the OEM LED turn signal stalks.

My S1K didn't throw any faults when I installed LED signals.

I think the newer bikes are set up for this.
Thank you! I'll find out this evening after I install them. I went out for a sump pump and the LEDs, did the sump so I think my daylight is best used outside on the bike, will install the LEDs after sundown and report back here EITHER WAY. Dealer thinks they will need reprogrammed, but perhaps software has been updated back at mothership and not reported to them yet.

Finished installing the BMW OEM LED turn signals. Rear set: 15 min total. Front set: an hour easy maybe 75 min. Big pain, have to remove front seat, tank skin, clear wind blockers (t's a GSA) on top of upper fairing in front of tankskin, then all of the black lower tank fairing below the red/blue/white forward fairing. Take off the turn signals and trace wire back to plug. Unplug old ones, plug in new ones, and reassemble. Must have done OK, there were no extra or missing screws when done. Unfortunately, the new bikes ARE NOT set up for the OEM LEDs from the factory. Will need reprogrammed, it is throwing the lamp failure code on the instrument panel which clears when bike is off, comes back as soon as you use a turn signal or 4 way flashers. Four ways flash normal speed, right or left signal flashes about twice as fast as normal (until reprogrammed). They look nice and are bright. I like the minimalistic profile of them.

Was on a trip from centrsl Ohioto the Ann Arbor, MI area and BMW Motorrad of SE Michigan in Plymouth took the bike in, was kind enough to reset the computer for the BMW LED turn signals. Charged only 0.25 hrs labor ($25 plus tax) and had me on the road in about an hour. Great guys, they have lots of BMW gear in stock as well as Schuberth helmets and Klim riding gear.

I am attempting to replace the right turn signal. It almost seems light i need to remove the side paneling, tank panel and the seat to access the wiring on the side. It is buried behind the panel and zip tie. Has anyone else experienced this?

It has been a while since I changed the front turn signals on my '18 GSA but, yes, I removed the tank skin and beak to get to the connectors to install short stalks.
