Hello all, I have a new to me r1250gs that came from the dealer with no o-ring on the oil fill plug, which allowed leaking onto my right boot. Since the dealer I bought from was way to far to drive to I figured I would just go to my local dealer and get a new o-ring.
I am now confused.
is the o-ring supposed to stay in the valve cover under the cap, or did the dealer get me the wrong o-ring?
I would think it would go on the cap under the flange.
Does the o-ring mate on surface 1 (would stay connected to plug when removed) or surface 2 (which would stay in valve cover when plug is removed, and to me seems like a much higher likely hood to loose it in the engine.)
the oring I received is 27mm inside and 3mm thick. It fits in the valve cover at mating surface 2.
If its the number 2 position, I am hoping the dealer in Iowa (which supposedly did all labor) did not loose it in the engine.
