These LED bulbs I bought from a Chinese online site. They are advertised as 100 Watt LED's but I DO get the "Bulb" error on my 07 display. And I also get "Left bulb out" display on my car when I install both bulbs as low beans on my 02 Volvo. SAME H7 bulbs.

Does the 2007 GSA has a Can bus? The bike has hardly any electronics.

I am sure these "Can bus compatible" bulbs are expensive which negates the reason of why I bought these bulbs in the first place.

The Yellow H7 Regular bulb I am using now is 100 Watts and the bike has given no codes. I assume it is Safe to run a Higher wattage bulb ? Hopefully it is not going to melt anything??

So far everything seems to be fine with the higher wattage bulb.

Thank you.
A 100W Halogen bulb could indeed be risky in terms of overloading cables. It could also shorten the lifetime of connectors and the bulb socket. The Canbus is going to switch the circuit off if the current is too high, so maybe you are still within allowed parameters at the moment. I would not do it. 100W is just a lot more heat to dissipate than the system was designed for.

So I have been running this Yellow Halogen bulb H7 in the bike for couple of weeks now and so far no problems. It is labeled on the website as 100 Watts, there is also a 55 Watt bulb but I chose the 100 watt one for more light. So it could be exaggerated as far as the Wattage go, I don't know.

So if I have not had any issues so far, are you saying I could still possibly damage things over time ?? Thank you.

2007 is notorious for melting H7 connector, even with 55W bulb. Now I can imagine what would happen with 100W bulb. I don't know if it's really 100W bulb or it's just advertisement trick. You could only tell by measuring the current.
However, there is a ton of ceramic connectors for H7 on the market. I strongly suggest you replace it, whichever bulb you want to use.

Yes. I’d go back to 55w immediately and either get the Cyclops LED bulb or go though the effort to swap to a full LED assembly.

If you keep the 100w you are nearly certain to need to replace the connector later.

If yellow is desired best to do that with fog lights.

The Black Plastic "frame" that surrounds the 2 wires/plugs which plug into the H7 bulb is already falling apart/broken. So I just plug the wires/plugs into the bulb itself. I assume this is what you're talking about and the black plastic melting, or is it something else that can melt ??

Thank you.

Yes, that’s what I am saying. The Canbus could suddenly decide it had enough and switch off while you are riding at night, as you don’t know whether 100W is already at 99% of the allowable current or whether there is still headroom. And pushing 100W of heat into an enclosed headlight assembly designed for 55W could overheat, melt or just plain deteriorate all kinds of things. That is, if the light bulb is really 100W and not just some “100W equivalent brightness” marketing gimmick.

Yes, I was talking about the plastic part of the connector.

So this switch off, does that mean the bike will suddenly die or would the lights just go out? And if so, how do you reset it? Do I simply remove the bulb and restart the bike?

Thank you.

This is like having Stage 1 cancer and refusing surgery. Take that dang bulb out, why would you risk damaging the bike?
I am not :) What I am saying is that I've had the bulb in the bike for 3 weeks now and I ride almost every day and so far nothing happened, no strange smells, or anything.

I also got some LED bulbs and they work fine but I get the flashing "Bulb" code in the dash which I can live with as I am not going to pay $200 or so for the "proper" Led bulbs.

Maybe I will remove the Yellow halogen and use the LED ones, as I am sure the LED will run cooler than the Halogen. Again, I never used LED's before so I have no experience with that.

Thank you.

You now have Stage 2 cancer and still feel fine, getting surgery yet? lol. Oh, Stage 3 starts in three weeks. ;)

You decide, I know the price of BMW parts, makes decisions like this easy for me at least. $64 for the Cyclops bulb that’ll not throw the code.
