Im changing the oil on my bike for the first time myself and sure enough my oil filter is stuck. I am using the oil filter wrench however the oil filter must have been put on to tight by the service shop the last time I changed the oil. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to remove without damaging anything?

Since you are removing the oil filter you should not be too worried about destroying the old one. If you have already tried the socket and it doesn't work, then you should try a strap wrench. These come in different models. Some have a metal strap, some have nylon. Also there are the giant channel-locks. But if you don't want to go buy either one, just grab your favorite old screwdriver and pound it through the filter sideways. Use the screwdriver as a handle to twist the filter. That should give you enough leverage to turn the filter off.
In my opinion, if the filter is still round, you should try the strap wrench before you damage the filter with a screwdriver or channel-locks. If it is truly as tight as you say, punching a hole in it is a last resort and if that doesn't work, there's a hole in the filter that's leaking oil all over, making it even more slippery than you really want it to be.
I always recommend that you take more than my opinion. There are a lot of people out there who know a lot more than I do. Maybe they will give you a little more information.

The last (and only) time that happened to me I did this and it worked great. I had a strap style filter remover and it just spun around the filter despite my finest effort. I had a bunch of sandpaper sheets in the garage so I cut a strip long enough to go around the filter. I then placed the strap wrench around the sandpaper strip and the filter, gave it a tug and voila!! The filter was loosened first try. Just needed a little more friction.
