1250 GSA headlight protector

I tried to install the Wunderlich headlight protector on my R1250GS in France too, but couldn’t loosen the plastic nuts which hold the attachment bar of the additional LED lights .

They seemed to be glued stuck and couldn’t be removed .

So I ordered the PUIG version which is only fastened at the top and has no hinges at the bottom.

My dealer in Belgium however had the Wunderlich installed on my second GS (a 1200 LC) in no time.

It looks nice , but I still have to ride this bike at night in order to check how its LED light beam works, now that it has to penetrate the Lexan shield of the protector. So I don’t know yet if there’s some annoying glare or not.

Interesting also that nobody mentions the fact that it is not allowed (in most European countries) to ride on the road with a headlight protector... clear lexan or other... .

Maybe this isn't the case in the USA ?

Although in France and Belgium I don't expect too many problems, the German, Austrian, Swiss and Luxembourg police are known to be very, very strict and often write tickets for bikers with motorcycles that don't fully comply with all formal technical regulations... worse... they forbid you to go on riding (after having given you a hefty fine) as long as your bike hasn't been put back in its original, lawful condition.

I therefor chose the Wunderlich version, which hinges downward for riding in these countries... and BTW, I already do have a small nick in the original headlight lens of my present GS after a mere 7.000 miles on the road, which luckily wasn't bad enough to break the rather thin lens entirely.
