I have a Karakorum GSA ASA as a trade up from a 1200 LC, there is no sane comparison, the handling is first class as are the brakes. The technology is superb, tick the boxes you won't be disappointed.
This bike I believe saved me from a Kangaroo encounter, I don't think the old 1200 would have stopped in time.
Olá,
Great!
Honestly, I switched from the R1200RT to the R1250GS Adventure, and I feel that the RT has better brakes when riding beyond the limits. In any case, I much prefer this style (GSA) and its versatility. ✌ ;)

Pretty sure the brakes are basically the same as my 2017.5.......and my brakes are very good. The 1300 does look smaller/slimmer and more svelte, and I do hear it handles very well.
Here is a table highlighting the differences, I have the sport brake option, I do believe it saved me from the Kangaroo that jumped at me.

The final sentence below the table is poorly worded at best and flat out wrong at the worst. For a fact, ABS systems require longer distances to stop on non-paved surfaces than standard non-ABS systems, and that's been irrefutably documented by any number of testing agencies.

I won't argue about a controlled stop scenario. An advanced rider can outperform a good ABS, it is different in a panic stop situation for most of the riders out there when you hit the brake hard and your front wheel washes out on a no ABS bike. ABS is made for improving the safety of the average rider and it works that way. If you feel ABS impedes on your braking performance, disable it one way or the other for you.

Moving on from brakes...
I was looking at the BMW panniers for the 1300 GSA, and comparing them to the ones for the 1250 and earlier.

The good: the actual latch mechanism is internal, and they secure the lid to the case in four places not two. So possibly more secure, and protected from road grime?

The bad (IMO): the latch mechanism is more complicated which - to me - means more opportunities to not work right, particularly after a drop. I know how to bang my 1250 panniers "square enough" to close and seal; not sure the 1300 ones will be as amenable to repair. My first thought actually was that they remind me of the Vario cases: a great idea, wonderful when they work but when they don't...

Overall another step in the GS' evolution from the original R80 G/S to the gravel road capable touring bike it's become. I'm happy with my new-to-me 1250
