Hello guys.

I have a set of anakee adventure tyres on my R1200 GSA 2009 and it's time to change tyres. I'm between getting the same set or switching to Bridgestone a41's. I usually ride on asphalt and very light off-road, nothing too demanding or extreme. I live in Cyprus and most of the year we get high temperatures.

What would you suggest and why (pros and cons)

My GS came with Bridgestone A41's. I didn't like them much, slippery on tar snakes, useless on gravel. I switched to the Anakee Adventure, A much better tire, but short life span. I only got 7000 km and both the front and rear got to be squared off and handling declined.

Thanks for your response man. When you say useless on gravel, did you actually got better traction on gravel with the anakees? Cause going through gravel with them I also got questions
 
I got new A41s on my 2018 Rallye. They work pretty good on Aspalt & hard packed dirt but sketchy on gravel! Feels like you are riding on marbles.
I would go with the Anakees if you plan on riding off road.
 
I already got 12k km on my Anakee Adventures and they still look good, probably for another 5k km. Mostly asphalt riding, but I have done a few long distance gravel trips and they had good grip. Will probably replace with the same.
 
I run the Pirelli Scorpion STR on my '18 GSA. Living in NE Florida I need something that handles wet roads well due to the nearly daily afternoon rains we get. They handle the trails well and even do well in the ultrafine 'sugar sand' roads we have. Mileage on the rear is good, I get about 8k miles on the rear and closer to 20K miles on the front. No noticeable 'road buzz' from them either at any speed.
 
I live in Australia and recently rode around it. 18,500km. I started with the Pirelli scorpion Rally STRs. Changed the back at 10,000km.(could have squeezed another 2000km)
The front easily did the lot. They performed well in all conditions of wet and dry tar roads, some twisties and great in the gravel and okay in the sand. I have found them best value for money and confidence particularly the front tyre..

I agree, sand is not the STR's strong point. It's decent enough, to handle the sugar sand roads around NE Florida. I swap to Anakee Wild's if I'm riding off pavement in Nevada or Utah. The AW's have a HORRIBLE road buzz, but tear up the western high desert dirt and sand like a fat kid on a donut.

OT but have to ask, how did fuel management work on the trip? Did you pack extra petrol or have range to make it between stations?

I love the A41's mostly tar though and not any issues, did a gravel pass with them slowly but found it doable. I dont really do offroad as well. Got about 14000km on them. I commute daily fwiw.
