Thank you for your replies. Ring has been checked. I am working on borrowing a mates ECU to swap out & if not i have found a mechanic fairly local BMW experienced who will verify any codes. I will keep you updated. Cheers.
After swapping the ECU, you will still use the original ignition key to turn the switch unit, but it is not the key that the ECU wants to read.
You need to cover the rubber part of ignition key with a few layers of aluminium foil in order to avoid ECU from reading it.
Don't forget to bring your friend ignition key close to the ring antenna when you switch it on.
Hopefully it will start.
It will still show some errors though, but no worries, it is just that your friend ECU is not coded to work together with your other "computers" such as instrument panel (KOMBI) and vehicle electronics (ZFE).
