Good morning well i am getting conflicting information regarding my next move. I have a 2009 R1200GS with 30000kms.No start meaning no cranking at all. EWS! light, ASC light on & light on as not activated(i wish i could ride it)
Been rigorously going over all the possible using the awesome input from members here.
Antenna ring done, wiring checked for damage, battery replaced, switches checked & connections checked.
Information button not operating, headlight does come on on start up but Neutral is on & gear selection displayed intermittently
Unless i have missed something i believe the ECU has failed.
I think due to the conflicting information from dealers my best outcome is to purchase a new unit matched to my Vin & have them reprogram so the bike is returned to as it should be. i can purchase a used Bosch ECU with the correct part number but i think transferring the info over & reprogramming may invite a whole lot of hurt in Australia as i am struggling to find someone who can give me confidence!
Guys & gals your thoughts & possible options.

Thank you for your replies. Ring has been checked. I am working on borrowing a mates ECU to swap out & if not i have found a mechanic fairly local BMW experienced who will verify any codes. I will keep you updated. Cheers.

Ok i have ordered a new ECU from BMW for my vin since exhausting all my options. BMW will then program it to my bike. At least then its up to them to get it right & its too nice a bike to not get it done at only 30k on the clock. I will update once completed with a 100% positive result. Cheers

I had similar EWS light on and random lights going on or not on, changing with each key turn. My battery was messes up. Make sure it’s OK.

Final outcome! The dealer i selected & ordered the new ECU has been awesome. Pricing was competitive, communication awesome and labour charges reasonable. All done now has life all seems to be functioning as it should. So once the ECU that was fitted & ordered for my Vin some magic communication back to Germany to load it up with all the info applicable to my bike including accessories from new. So off to cover some miles on the old girl hopefully troubl free. Thanks again for all your input. Cheers Finny
