engine temperature

When riding my 2017 GSA through the desert with temperatures over 115 my engine temperature never went below 215 degrees.
Fan was running constantly.
Has anyone installed a second fan to the other radiator that doesn't have one for trips like this.
Just a thought.

None of the retail Liquid Cooled GS's left the factory with a fan on both radiators, they just have the one on the right side, the police package RT-P's don't even have an extra fan.

I ride in the Mojave often in temps up to 120F and the engine temp will get up into 220's at times but it will not hurt anything and adding another fan isn't going to help when it's this hot outside.

Adding another fan to the other side will reduce the airflow, not increase it, while on the highway. It would only help while stopped or moving very slow. If you look at the radiator cooled by the fan it has a shroud around it and all the air has to go through the fan reducing the airflow. Having one with a fan and the other without you have the best of both worlds. The one with the fan will push air through when stopped and the other with no fan, the max air flows through when moving. Are you sure the fan was running when moving and not freewheeling?

yes the fan is definitely on,I have noticed at lower speeds when you can hear it that the fan comes on around 212 degrees and off at about 205. and as it is triggered by engine temp which was 215 it was staying on.
I find the 2017 GSA a hard bike to ride in high heat areas as there is so much heat coming off the radiators, cylinders and exhaust with no real fresh air flow to the legs with the large tank. I used to wear Klim mesh pants on other bikes in the heat but they just let more engine heat in.
