Anyone having issues with new GS? Both mine and a mates new 2018 GSA Rallye X are cutting out and give this fault message.
Fault in Engine Control
Onward Journey possible ride carefully to next specialist workshop. ( in my mates case that was over 3000klm in the second instance)
Short story below.
My mate just had to get picked up by truck at Mataranka to be taken to Darwin 400klm as it would not start after showing fault.
after 4 days Dealer installed a new fuel pump which failed again approx 1200 klms further on. currently being trucked 1200klm back to closest dealer (Darwin).
Mine faulted 70+ times i.e. engine stops and has to have ignition turned on and off to restart in approx 350klm. Dealer replaced fuel pump and ECU (flown out from Germany) bike failed again after 60klm. This is not a fuel problem it is a electronic issue. ( please no advice re dirty fuel) the download says the fuel pump is getting voltage spikes causing it to cut out.
This is also a safety issue as it looses power and stops without warning in some character building situations!
Both bikes have under 5,000klm on them and develop d the issue around the 3-4000klm mark.
Fault shows on TFT screen as below.
We await BMW Motorrad response.
