I have a new to me 2015 R1200GS with shift assist. I have owned a 2006 R12GS in the past as well as several airheads. I know they are not known for smooth transmissions.
Probable solution in Post #11: I am an idiot and it is my touring boots.
I am curious if other R12GS WC owners have had this issue.
The past few rides I have experienced severe difficulty in upshifts only.

The past few rides I have experienced severe difficulty in upshifts only.
- It is only on upshifts. Downshifting is fine with clutch or shift assist.
- It is almost always from 2nd to 3rd, but occasionally it will happen from 3to4, 4to5, and once from 5to6.
- It has never happened from 1 to 2.
- It happens regardless of using shift assist or the clutch.
- The bike will not upshift at all. I am putting all of my weight into it. This lasts 20 to 30 secs, and it will eventually upshift.
- The shift lever will not physically move up.
- The clutch is disengaging. The engine will rev if I apply extra throttle.
- I did this just as a test.
- Revving does not seem to fix the issue.
- It seems to finally find the next gear when the RPMs are on the low side (under 3k, maybe lower).
- If I cannot upshift, I can still downshift without issues.
- After it upshifts, all is good for awhile.
- I think (unconfirmed) that it only occurs when I have started from a stop.
- I am never in neutral at a stop, just with the clutch.
- Sometimes it will get into 3rd, but then have the issue on one of the later upshifts.
- It happens most of the time, but not every time.
- It seems more frequent when I am riding more aggressively.
- It does still happen at times when I am riding cautiously with early upshifts.
- The PO had the software updated in 2017 (or late 2016).
