Ins.

Unless the quotes are from your city they are useless. On my GS in atlanta I have recd. quotes from $92 to $643 for the same coverage. All from well known ins. co's.

Liability only insurance with Progressive. It's cheap. If I damage my bike of if my bike is stolen I'm SOL. I can live with that.
Yes motorcyclists are rarely at fault in multi-vehicle accidents, and when they do screw up it rarely causes huge property damage and injury (the thing that really gets expensive) to other motorists. So liability only should be cheap for anybody who has a halfway decent driving record.

With Progressive you can add comp without collision and it's still reasonable. Then you aren't SOL in event of theft, fire, storm damage etc.

Can anyone recommend a good insurance company? I'm finding Geico and Progressive to be really expensive. What kind of coverage are you guys getting on your Adventures? Thanks.
Progressive seems to vary wildly depending on locality and they also use "behind the scenes" factors that some people consider unfair, like credit rating. Like the other post, I find Progressive to be very reasonable here in KS for an over-the-hill guy who hasn't had a blemish on his record in quite a few years (knock on wood).

About the best you can do is contact a number of carriers who do business in your area and see who'll give you the best quote. What somebody else in another state or another part of the world pays won't be of much help you. Best of luck.

I have State Farm that costs me about $200/year for liability only. I was looking over the claim and 85-90% of that cost is the coverage to me for uninsured or under-insured drivers. To add full coverage on my GS would cost me another $100/year. In comparison, my old WR450 was the same cost as the GS for liability . . . but to add full coverage was another $17/year.

Do your homework...

I shopped around even though I had Progressive for our vehicles. I came back and signed up my first bike (Suzuki) with them. At that time, 4 years ago, I paid $300 for the works. Switched over to the GS last year and with a decent driving record, I pay $196 now.

Progressive

The first year I was with Progressive for one bike I paid $450 (full coverage) for the year. Now I have three bikes with them and I pay $300 for the year with full coverage. There are many variables as to why your insurance may be more expensive than you would like. Location, age, driving record, marriage status to name a few.
