I just joined the GS community...just bought a 2007 1200GS and after riding a few times I've decided I'd like to upgrade the windshield to something taller or adjustable due to excessive buffeting to my helmet. The stock windshield causes the wind to hit me right about forehead level so I'm assuming a couple of inches to the height would make a big difference. Can anyone recommend something for my generation of GS?

Get one that is "too tall" then you can ride with it awhile, and then, if you want, cut it down to suit your tastes. I used a Dremel tool to cut mine, then sanded with a air-powered die-grinder. After the first pass, and a couples days of trial riding, I cut another 2" inches off. Came out perfect. You can get cheap windscreens on Ebay for around $60 (so if you make a mistake cutting on it, you won't be out too much money.) Photo below shows me sanding on it. Easy if you have the tools.
