I have a new 2010 GSA —Canbus system— I have removed every visible screw and nut that is located in the tail light area and all I"ve managed to do is get it loose and wobbly. Something else is holding that sucker. How do I get in there to add some auxiliary lighting on my side & top boxes?

Thanks,

Tom (a.k.a. "Junior" member who's probably older than most of you.)

What a great bike!

Welcome.

Assuming the 10 is the same as earlier bikes the wiring connector is under the top cover that is under the passenger seat. I think I have a picture....

See the wires?

Here's a close-up. You won't have that C shaped bracket as it is an after market piece for Zega panniers.

I assume that's what you want to get to. If you just want to remove the taillight lens it's only the two screws you can see from the rear of the bike (again, assuming the '10 is the same as my '05').

Does that help?

Thanks, but the 2010 is not the same. The tail lights are LED and fully enclosed with no accessible screw heads. When you take the pillion seat off, there is a large plastic cover that has the side box rack bolts passing through, and a few other bolts here and there. I suspect everything is hidden under that.

Thanks anyhow.

Welcome to the forum. Can't help on getting it apart but here is some
probablies as food for thought. I assume you are looking for
power and want to take it off the tail-light wiring. You probably have
a power to the tail-light and a ground. These will physically
probably run to the ZFE which is probably the brain that controls
on and off and flashing. It also acts does duty as a virtual fuse and
will kick off if it senses excessive load. If your extra load is
small you might be O.K., however some guys have found it best to
run directly to the battery for extra electrical power as this
by-passes the ZFE which probably contains the overload electronics
for fusing. If the 2010 taillight contains a "embedded" computer
chip its a different ballgame. Hope this is a little helpful:)
