Hi guys was trying to fit a battery health checker, took off the right side of the cover and the top rubber gromit popped out , i tried to get it and it went down into the bowels of the bike, any idea where I can get one ? I am a way from a BMW garage..

Also on taking the cover off the battery seemed tough to get out I noticed red terminal to the right , have the ran that as a terminal connection ?

Or do i need to take battery out

RG1200 GSA 2016

Happy new year guys ,,,,

Applying a little Crisco to the inside of the grommet helps with removal without pulling out the entire grommet. Other lubes should work also.

Rubber grommet

Try one of your local auto parts stores - they usually carry a good selection of different size grommets and you can get one close to original - I used a drop of weather sealing adhesive to hold mine in place.

This is one of those aggravating little things that drives me bat s***.

I've found over many decades and many moto's that a dab of Sil-Glyde brake part lube, NAPA 765-1351 on the post and inside the grommet works like a champ. The first time I popped the battery cover off my GSA, the grommet jumped out and took a dive for the deepest, darkest corner of my home shop. Luckily I caught it out of the corner of my eye. After lubing, it's repeatedly cycled as designed with no need for adhesive on the perimeter of the grommet.

The red terminal is tied directly to the battery positive post. It is intended as a jump start post.
Many thanks guys for all the responses , have not tried my dealer yet will Tuesday , great feed back re cement and silicone .. Just made me think it’s fallen into the bowls of the bike my fingers are a big , I could try a an air hose I guess.

Regards the terminal would I be ok attaching the battery “health ‘ indicator to the Red terminal extension ? I figure I would..

Cheers guys Happy new year

Can you attach a battery tender permanently to the jump terminal? Space in the battery compartment is extremely limited for stuffing the fuse holder from the battery tender into. I've only seen the jump terminal quickly while removing the battery to bring in the house for winter storage and hook up to the tender.

I took the bike down to the garage put it on the centre stand , then with the air hose blew it under the area below the gromit, to no avail...

Got on bike pushed off centre stand , only to see the said gromit role away from front wheel.. very lucky indeed ..

Now glue it to the bike.
