Tool Kit Question

Got to be honest, much as I love a decent set of tools for my home workshop, anything I carry with me is “good enough to get me out the s*** grade”….stuff that will certainly last more than once, but not stuff that I’d lose sleep over if it were stolen or broke straight after resolving an issue. To that end, an Oxford set is what I sling into the panniers for a roadtrip, plus cable ties, rolled up strip of gaffer tape, latex gloves, puncture repair kit and battery powered pump.

What I really would find useful is something along the lines of what‘s available for the GSA, an external lockable toolbox, but for a GS that uses Vario panniers (no, I’m not a hardcore Nick Sanders-a-like rider), that would save me having to consume space inside the panniers/top box and leave them locked to the bike overnight. Answers on a postcard if anyone‘s seen such a thing.

The GSA tool boxes work because of the full metal frames the panniers are attached too. No frames w/ the vario's so unless you bolt a toolbox to the back of the vario (not advised) that is about you only option.
Yep, aware that the toolboxes I was referring to mount to the framework - I'm sure I've seen somewhere something that's compatible with the Vario boxes...just can't think where I've seen it.
