Mine had a major cardiac events in 3 years time. Replaced both.....tried to haggle warranty with BMW but was a no go.
If you are a DIY person invest in a GS911 or the cheaper motoscan setup ( I have the motoscan) and a wake up tool which is super cheap and you are good to gofor a lot of things

Can the TPMS be replaced without removing the tire? IOW, can just breaking the bead give you enough access? Also, I've read through various threads on DYI TPMS replacement and have to admit, I'm still confused on the exact steps. I do have a GS-911.
Steps are easy:
1) Install the new TPMS
2) Air the tires up
3) Go the the TPMS setting in motoscan
4) Add TPMS
5) Wake up the TPMS with a wake up tool
6) The motoscan picks it up and adds it
7) Sometimes takes a few tries
8) Other ways also there which have been listed here.... a quick search will find them
