Hello all? I'm the new/proud owner of the GSW Rally"e" and "love'in it ...so far...BUT, Can someone help me? I'm a DYI guy. And, I'm reading the owners manual. It shows a tool to remove an OIL CAP??? What the farical!!! I never owned a EuroBike before and seems like a "setup" for dealership service. Also, there a service light on the dash? Again, What the farical!!!

So, I have an '17 GSW. I can't seem to find this oil cap removal tool? Is it under the seat somewheres?

Most of us use just our fingers with maybe a shop towel wrapped to get the oil cap off, you can also lay a screwdriver across it if it's too tight, it's a simple thing.

The screw driver handle under the seat, without the bit inserted, is the tool provided to remove that cap.:wink2:

Obviously but my pillion seat is rarely installed on my bike, I have a rack in its place.

Oh thanks folks.....I thought that to be weird not to have something on hand to top the oil off if need be..
Personally, I don't care for the plastic plug. I ordered this cover from Amazon today. It uses a torx tool..

I have never found any reason to replace the stock oil filler plug with anything else, it's unnecessary.

Concur with JetSpeed. Spend your money on something more relevant.

Exactly...Nothing says "rugged" like a plastic oil cap!

It is a very durable composite and likely to last as long as an aluminum cap, but to each their own.

I probably should keep my mouth shut, I have some accessories on my bike that plenty of people would say are a complete waste of money...........and about a few of the items they'd be 100% correct.

Just lay across like below (realize now I laid the screwdriver backwards to loosen it, but you get the idea). A flat screwdriver works best, keep downward pressure while you turn. Cheap oil cap tools can be had on eBay or Amazon but not completely necessary.

Thanks. Worked beautifully. Always respect the experienced. Sounded ridiculous to spend about $10 for a wrench. Thanks again

It's not obvious but on my 2016 the butt end of the screwdriver handle under the seat is shaped to fit this cap.

I find that a spark plug wrench/socket fits into the inner geometric design quite snugly, making sort of an inside-out wrench. Also the head of a 1/2" bolt that requires a 3/4" wrench fits near perfect. Double nut the other end and you have a custom made tool.
