First thing to check is the height sensor rod that attaches between the rear shock and swing arm, make sure it is attached solidly at both ends.

 

Will look for it Jetspeed, any pic?

 

Just make certain that it is attached properly that is all you can do with this.
The other thing is to make sure that the electrical connectors are plugged tightly into the switch-gear controls.

 

D-ESA error after ESA unit replacement - 2017 R1200 GS Rallye

Started with a similar problem like Virkdoc. Was on a tour, by the time the motorcycle got to a service centre the warning light was always on. At the authorised service centre the computer showed an error of the ESA hydraulic unit. BMW Germany couriered a new ESA shocker unit. After taking delivery from the service centre with the new ESA rode 8-9 km, next day about 15km in the city after which the D-ESA error light came on. After 30 minutes, the light did not come on. Motorcycle is back at the service centre.

Got a reply from the service manager saying that this is a common fault if the temperature is high, the ESA unit heats up and the error shows, we were stuck in traffic with the bike at 105 Celsius when this happened, will wait to see how it behaves.
Lynx has your been sorted? Delhi dealership?

 

Did your service include flushing the coolant? Just curious as I’ve been to the desert SW of the US where the temps hovered around 110f and the engine temps rose to over 190f but never saw any warnings..

it was the first service I guess just oil and filter etc.
Engine temperature stuck in traffic was around 215 F
Ambient temperature was around 100f

Yes showed exactly the same a yellow triangle and D-ESA!

Does both fans eventually turn on...?

 

I'm fairly certain there is only a single cooling fan on his machine.
I've ridden in temps up to 123F although not stuck in traffic with no ESA error message granted my bike is a 2013.

Jetspeed is correct, there is only one cooling fan on the right side which comes on at 212F or 100C

The BMW service engineer took the bike for a test ride. The ESA error warning light lit up.
The ESA unit & shocker has been sent to BMW Germany.

The bike will be going on a very long trip..
