RSD does have separate and different diagrams for installation of the instrument cluster and connectivity unit. The diagrams are not very interesting for this discussion though as they do not answer whether TFT aka connectivity is retrofittable. They simply show a different connection in the dash: there is a wire connecting the TFT to the dash frame and no wire for the traditional cluster.

What is interesting is that instructions/diagrams for removing/installing/replacing the main wiring harness ask whether your bike has D-ESA, keyless, navi, passenger package, RDC, DWA (alarm), and style 1, but do not need to know if you have connectivity. This suggests that the wiring harness is the same for connectivity option as for the traditional cluster.

I came across a couple of reviews by The Missendon Flyer, in my opinion, that are pretty good...
One is on the new GSA--note the bigger footpegs and enhanced handguards-- and one is on the TFT display, a really nice walk through

the GSA

The TFT

NB I did a quick search and I don't think these links have been posted before???, if so my apologies

TFT is not fit my 2016 R1200GSA

I am such a tease...(happy new owner of GSA)

I have the new TFT... so i can try to answer your questions here if needed.
>:)

I have got the new TFT ,the part number is 62118396329.but it is not fit my 2016 R1200GSA.

The plug of R1200GSA' instrument is 8 pin.the plug of TFT is 12 pin. :crying::crying:

Please see the picture.

Could you tell me why and how can I do?thanks a lot.

I'm in the same situation. I own a 2017 R1200gs and I was planning on doing the retrofit. I both the tft screen and the mount but now I'm stuck. I'll buy also de left hand switches but from that I don't know what I'll need. Can you guys help me with some info?

tft retrofit

Hi guys, I'm new to the forum, I'm like a bmw enthusiast in general.
My hobby is retrofitting bmw cars.
I'm studying for the retrofit of the TFT display on my R1200GS LC of 12/2013. I seem to have found the right thread about this retrofit.
IMHO the retrofit is feasible as long as the TFT cluster is new.
Consulting the wiring diagrams I can see that the analog cluster has an 8-pin connector while the TFT cluster is a 12-pin. as has already been pointed out in your previous posts. The analogue cluster of the 8 pins present uses only 7 of them, while the TFT cluster exploits all 12 pins.
The 5 pins found on the TFT connector are nothing more than an ethernet communication.
These are the pins on the analog cluster

PIN 1 (?) = 30F1 (supply)
PIN 1 (?) = WL_S
PIN 2 = CAN_H (canbus high)
PIN 3 = CAN_L (canbus low)
PIN 4 = 31 (ground)
PIN 5 = empty?
PIN 6 = KS_LIN (Lin bus)
PIN 7 = SZ_LIN (Lin bus)
PIN 8 = empty?

As you can see from the following wiring diagram, an error is certainly present. There are two pins 1 ... one of these two pins1 is pin 5 or pin 8. This is not a problem because it occurs once the analog cluster is unmounted.

Here is the wiring diagram of the analog cluster.

These are the pins on the TFT cluster

PIN 1 = 30F1 (supply)
PIN 2 = CAN_H (canbus high)
PIN 3 = CAN_L (canbus low)
PIN 4 = 31 (ground)
PIN 5 = K_RX - (ethernet reception minus)
PIN 6 = K_RX + (ethernet reception plus)
PIN 7 = WL_S
PIN 8 = KS_LIN (Lin bus)
PIN 9 = SZ_LIN (Lin bus)
PIN 10 = K_ACTIV (ethernet activation)
PIN 11 = K_TX - (ethernet tranmission minus)
PIN 12 = K_TX + (ethernet tranmission plus)

here is the TFT cluster scheme:

I noticed that the 5 ethernet cables, from the TFT cluster, go directly to the 16-pole OBD socket (the same as the one used on 8 + 8 pin cars on two rows) which is present on R1200GS LC bikes from 2017.
I think that for the older bikes of 2017 the diagnostic socket is all the classic 10-pin rounds.
In my round 10 pins come 4 cables, of which 2 are for the low and high canbus and the other two are for power and ground.
Any help and ideas are greatly appreciated.
Excuse me for the bad English.

Hi brother.

About TFT retrofit in BMW GS1200, did you succeed??

I have one GS1200 adveture 2016 analogic display and want do that.

Please, send me any news.
