I'm very interested in the Touratech toolbox but I have concerns about fit. The Tractive suspension on my '19 1250 has the rear shock canister that's attached to the left side of the frame which might be in the way of the toolbox install but I'm not sure . . . has anybody installed that particular toolbox and would it be possible to install on either side?

any feedback is greatly appreciated!

i had one, it was the brand that they got it from and put their name on it at half the price.
it was too small for what I have for tools. It does mount to the rack.
I will sell you mine if you want.

According to Touratech installation instructions, the toolbox attaches to the rack, not the frame.

No it cannot be installed on the other side. See the attached installation manual
thank you for reply & attachment! I've been chatting with somebody at Touratech in regards to fit as I have Tractive suspension installed with the shock canister attached to the frame on same side, protruding frame about half an inch or so. But given the fact that the box is slanted at the front, that actually might just work . . .

if I find out that it would fit with my suspension I might take you up on it . . .

Just an FYI. If you install the knock off tool box found on eBay, Amazon or AliExpress and are using Brooks Panniers, you will have to add ½" spacers and longer machine screws so the Brooks mounts fit. I used M6x35mm stainless steel machine screws and ½" long steel spacers. The tire still clears the tool box by about ⅜" when the shocks are compressed.

By the way, in case any of you are thinking of using this Touratech tool box with Zega Pro Panniers, it won't work due to the puck style attachment of the cases to the rack.

I have the Touratech racks and Zega Pros and I'm looking for a tool box to mount in that location if anyone has a tip for me. I'm thinking of just making something myself but would rather finding a locking quality solution.

I'm looking at this box on eBay and it looks like it might work with my cases since it mounts to the bike instead of the rack. Am I seeing that correctly?

At least one of the photos show it mounted to the bike with no rack. If I have to mount it to the rack I don't think it'll work with the puck mounting system of the Zega Pros.

Looks like a neat installation with the spacers but I'd be concerned about bending loads on them. I'd probably fab a tension strap on top to avoid that, and fab some plates (or just use fender washers trimmed to fit) to use on the sides instead of the supplied washers. TT recommends removing the possum scraper from the wheel due to possible interference at extreme compression, do you think extending the box inboard risks contacting the swingarm?

FWIW, I've used the TT box on the OEM pannier brackets for several years now on a factory-lowered GSA. I don't do serious offroad so never bottom the suspension. The possum scraper disappeared somewhere in Labrador last summer but I attribute that to excess vibration due to only being secured with 2 screws because some bonehead (not me, really!) stripped the middle one during a tire change.

The Zega Pros have the same "puck" mounting system as the Brooks Panniers. The ½" spacers and longer machine screws that I installed should also work with the Zega Pros.
Thanks Enzo, I see what you did there to accommodate for the mounting pucks. I'm trying to understand this photo for that toolbox on eBay that shows it mounted up with no obvious rack in place?

I thought maybe it was using the upper attach points on the subframe of the bike but maybe they're just showing it positioned there and it still requires attachments to the rack?

I think it will mount to the rail, although you are correct it is shown mounted without the rails also with some kind of metal strips if you zoom and see but those strips are not part of the hardware you will be getting.
Still email the seller I think

The tool box is pretty stout. The aluminum sheeting parts cover the ABS plastic box which is thicker than I thought it'd be. I've bounced over some pretty big bumps and dips with no problems.

My first thought is that this is a photoshop job. The whole point of the box is to use the space inboard of the non-exhaust side pannier, and in that photo the box is both too high and a good 3" further outboard than it needs to be.

It's a real thing. Cymarc makes one that will probably work.
