I just joined the GS community...just bought a 2007 1200GS and after riding a few times I've decided I'd like to upgrade the windshield to something taller or adjustable due to excessive buffeting to my helmet. The stock windshield causes the wind to hit me right about forehead level so I'm assuming a couple of inches to the height would make a big difference. Can anyone recommend something for my generation of GS?

Welcome @mjkearns !
I use National Cycle windshield on my 2017 GSA.
I imagine the result will be similar for yours.
Clarity cannot be beat.

You could try a cheap Amazon clip on wind deflector ( I never could get uses to them) or Give AirFlow is a popular choice as its adjustability.

Does anyone have experience with the GIVI Airflow windshield?
Currently two of my GS's have Givi AirFlow windscreens. To me the Givi, OEM GS and Cee Bailey are a 3-way tie for second place. I prefer the GSA screen over them all.

The Givi does work but the farther you slide it up the more it flops around.

Have you moved you stock screen? I've found that standing it up as far as possible give me the best result.

Windscreen and seats are very subjective. Ask 10 people their opinion on which is best and you'll get at least 10 different responses. If you were local to me you would be more than welcome to try out the Givi to see if it works for you. Unfortunately LA is a bit o a hike to PA :(

Cheers,

Does anyone have experience with the GIVI Airflow windshield?
I've used Givi Airflow on all of my previous bikes and I loved them. Givi doesn't make one for 1250GS so I had to buy Wunderlich screen and MRA spoiler. Givi Airflow works by creating invisible screen from air that enters between two screens and gets pressurised. So that pressurised air is projected verticaly and that makes "invisible screen". A lot of people don't know that. I didn'd know it when I bought my first Airflow. So, you need to have as big as possible the area where two screens overlap. It's not about rising the top portion of the screen. If you want to rise the screen, you have to rise both screens. Also, for Givi Airflow to work the best, it needs to be tilted a bit towards the rider. Some of my bikes had adjustable tilt, some didn't. On those that didn't, I had to use spacers on bottom screws of the screen to tilt it a bit.
With Givi Airflow I always achived zero buffeting and still had clean air to my helmet.
Now I own 2021 1250GS and miss Givi AIrflow.

I have a stock screen on my 07 GSA with a deflector. Works for me when I set the deflector in a higher position. While I don't care for the look, at 6'3" (34" inseam) that height is needed to push the air high enough. I think the deflector focuses the air stream a bit better too.

You can pickup a cheap chinese deflector on eBay or Amazon to try before spending bigger money.

Puig Touring Screen with factory fitted aerofoil works very well for me. The stock GSA screen on my 2021 GSA was just bad buffet wise, but then again I'm 6'5". If you do get a taller screen I'd strongly recommend you get a screen support bracket to go with it. I have a Cymarc version on mine which makes the screen rock solid at any speed.

Another thing that should notify is used from you helmet. With open chin, I have a sense that make funnel and collect all the flow in my face. When close the chin all is smooth and quiet. This is with stock GS screen and 2" Givi deflector above with 20-30 degrees difference between them. Anyway, preffer to ride open face. Only after big truck I feel real discomfort because of turbulence.

Get one that is "too tall" then you can ride with it awhile, and then, if you want, cut it down to suit your tastes. I used a Dremel tool to cut mine, then sanded with a air-powered die-grinder. After the first pass, and a couples days of trial riding, I cut another 2" inches off. Came out perfect. You can get cheap windscreens on Ebay for around $60 (so if you make a mistake cutting on it, you won't be out too much money.) Photo below shows me sanding on it. Easy if you have the tools.

How tall are you? I am 5'10" tall and I had my moto lower 1" with Ohlins lower shock. The max to lower R1200GS is 1.5" without sacrificing the riding sag. Sargent regular version seat. Anyway, when I go riding, I could feel tad wind buffer on top of my helmet so I only need 1-2 inches more of windscreen and decided to go with clip-on windscreen for $20. I just ordered it and it's on the way. Seems to make sense over $100-200 upgrade for 1-2 inches more. 🤷‍♂️ I can report back and let you know what I think of it if you like.
