Does anyone on the forum use silicone spray on the black plastics on their GSs?
If not, what else?

Just be careful of BLO on your rags - they can/will spontaneously combust if left saturated/crumpled. I use it with my other hobby (wood working) and I tested it out for kicks - sure enough, FIRE!i have tried almost all the products recommended in this thread and i can say that the best by far is boiled linseed oil. available from hardware stores in a 1 litre bottle so its very very cheap. you only need a very small amount on a rag - wipe on - wait 5 - buff off. lasts for months even if you wash every week. google it. lots of recommendations for black plastics on cars.
sorry i should have mentioned the safe disposal of the rag or applicator used for linseed oil. i soak mine in water and throw them outJust be careful of BLO on your rags - they can/will spontaneously combust if left saturated/crumpled. I use Pledge on my bikes. Once I tried it, I never went back (and so much cheaper than Honda detailer/other brands etc). It works as well as any other thing I've used, I love it, and the bikes have a lemony fresh scent![]()
Love that guys channel. Seems to have some of the best (and least biased) product comparisons.
I’ve found ACF50 to help darken and shine plastics. Not sure if the length of time plastics stay dark on oxidized plastics is any better than other products.Thank you all. This was a good read for me. has anyone used ACF50? any feedbacks?
Thank you. I eventually used black shoe polish to restore the “black” and ACF50 to lock it in 😁. It worked great. Now to see how long it would last.I’ve found ACF50 to help darken and shine plastics. For boots/shoes Kiwi shoe polish, 6” orbital buffer and a hairdryer. Make shoes shine like mirrors in minutes.Sure looks good. Seems a lost art these days, but shoe polish does an amazing job on riding boots, hunting boots, etc. Interested to see the longevity, sure looks good.
Care to share your "concotion"?I try to keep all my plastic protected with a proper concoction so I won't have to work so hard to make it look good later.![]()
Anything with UV protection that's not greasy/oily......this is my regular go to, as is Bugslide.Care to share your "concotion"?![]()
