After I finished the Saddlesore 1000 ride a few weeks ago I thought it might is a great idea to visit my stepson in St. Augustine FL. I checked the Iron Butt Association if they have a ride that qualifies for one of their certificates and I found the CC50 (Coast to Coast in 50 hours).
I started in San Diego (Torrey Pines State Beach) June 22nd at 5:15 PM with Odometer showing 12974 miles.
Stopped in El Centro CA at 7:33PM with Odo at 13098
Stopped in Dateland AZ at 9:43PM with Odo at 13221
Stopped in Eloy AZ at 11;50PM with Odo at 13331
Stopped in Tucson AZ at 1:07AM with Odo at 13399
Stopped along the route at a rest stop to take a 2 hour nap on a park bench
Stopped in Lordsburg NM at 5:59AM with Odo at 13541
Stopped in El Paso TX at 8:43AM with Odo at 13711
Stopped in Van Horn TX at 11:46AM with Odo at 13821
My plan was to keep riding the I10E to Jacksonville FL. However, it started drizzling and more and more rainclouds showed up so I decided to take I20E instead. Later on I found out that was a smart move since my friend who lives in Houston told me that they had tons of rain later that day.
Stopped in Monahans TX at 2:59PM with Odo at 13945
Stopped in Colorado City TX at 5:13PM with Odo at 14081
Stopped in Ranger TX at 7:28PM with Odo at 14212
Hit construction traffic in Dallas with Temperature 95+F for over 1 hour. My bikes cooling fan was running continuously and I was sweating really bad.
Stopped in Forney TX at 10:54PM with Odo at 14351
Stopped in Shreveport LA at 1:43 AM with Odo at 14504
Stopped in Vicksburg MS at 4:54 AM with Odo at 14682
Stopped in Hattiesburg MS at 7:18AM with Odo at 14807
Stopped in Pensacola FL at 10AM with Odo at 14960
Stopped in Bonifay FL at 11:49AM with Odo at 15064
Stopped in Greenville FL at 2:54PM with Odo at 15192
Finally arrived in St.Augustine FL at 5:50PM with Odo at 15351
Google maps shows the ride at 2401 miles my Odo shows 2377 miles. Overall I stopped 19 times to get gas, water and snacks. In total I pumped 58 Gal Fuel.
This was my first cross country ride. I learned alot and would definatly make some adjustments if I plan on doing the ride again.

How the heck did you manage fatigue?

I get to the two hour mark and usually find myself on the pegs resting the butt for a bit in slower sections. Very impressed anyone could make a trek like this and you might want to share what seat your using because it doesn't feel possible in mine. :)
I purchased a gel seat cushion on Amazon and strapped it on the original seat. I'm not sure if the seat cushion made a difference since this was my first coast to coast ride. I still moved around a lot on the seat to make my butt feel better after a few hours. Frequent stops for gas also helps.

CC 50 in 2011 on 07 R1200 RT
Bun Burner Gold in 2013 on 2012 R1200 RT

Russell Day Long on both.

Saddles are very individual choices and it's not always easy to find what works for your butt, back and shoulders.
Russell is typically a very safe choice, but I never could find a saddle I liked for my 18 GS and completed 0 Iron Butt runs with it. 750 miles was about max for the GS and me.

Coach Ramey Stroud said something that changed my long distance riding at the 2013 BMW Rally in Salem, Or.
He said:
"Your Mother was right. Sit up straight."
