My opinion is that if you have purchased a GS-911 you may as well use it to its full potential which would include cycling the ABS pump after a brake system flush and flushing the system a second time and maybe even third time, this would be especially useful if you suffer from weak or spongy brakes which is normally caused by a tiny bit of air trapped in the system that this procedure will normally remove.
I also think that exercising the pump may be a good thing to do especially for those riders that rarely activate the ABS during rides.

BMW service schedule indicates that the brake fluid be changed after the first 12 months and then every 2 years, BMW also does not require that the ABS motor be activated during the full system brake bleed procedure.

Brake fluid change

I originally purchased a GS-911 because there is no way to reset the oil/service monitor after an oil change. At $400 the GS-911 isn't cheap but if you figure changing your own oil twice a year, the $40 charge by the dealer to reset the service reminder pays itself off in about five years. This evening I changed the brake fluid. The video was helpful but left me wondering how changing the rear brake fluid would flush the abs module. If you don't have the GS-911, you will only be changing the brake fluid by itself. What I missed in the video was by using the GS-911, you will first bleed the rear brake. Then via the GS-911, you cycle the abs pump which then "robs" the new fluid to flush the abs module. Repeat a total of three times and voila! Then you bleed the front calipers as usual. I'm thinking that my payoff time for the GS-911 just got quite a bit shorter!
