Hi. Has anyone used this service in the last couple of years. You put the bike on the train in Paris and pick it at the chosen destination.

Last summer (3 months ago) the 3 of us took the autotrain from Villach, Austria to Feldkirch, Austria (on the border to Switzerland). 3 bikes, 3 persons. You board the train, they secure it. You go to your seat, or bed (night rides always have sleeping options). It's a common thing, lot of bikes (and cars) using it. We took the tickets 3 months in advance.
I don't have any info regarding Paris. But the railways in France are very good, should be no problem.

I used this service several times before Deutsche Bahn (DB) cancelled this service.
Driving route was Düsseldorf (D) > Bozen (I)
and Düsseldorf > Narbonne (F)
Just new this: Autozug Italien - Düsseldorf - Verona + Livorno
