Hello all,

I am just now hitting 6k on my ( new to me ) GSA. Got the bike about 4 months ago now, been enjoying it since.

I am about 500 miles away from getting the maintenance indicator on my dash, time to change the oil.
I used Liqui Molly in my S1000 XR which was great. However, not sure if that'll fly with the boxer.

What oil and filter should I use on the GSA?

Input is appreciated! Thank you in advance!

PS - I have factory warranty.

Page 236 of the owners manual spell it all out for you

Engine oil Engine oil:

• Capacity max 4 l, with filter change
• Specification SAE 5W-40
• API SL / JASO MA2, Additives (e.g. molybdenum-based) are not permissible because they can attack coated components of the engine, BMW Motorrad recommends BMW Motorrad ADVANTEC Ultimate oil. Engine oil, quantity for topping up max 0.8 l, Difference between MIN and MAX

Any 5W-40 oil that meets or exceed specifications API SL/JOSA MA2 will be the oil you should use. Brand or cost is irrelevant.

I've been using Edward's oil change kit from Amazon comes with OE filter and crush washer added bonus pair of gloves a rag and paper funnel.

At $18.50 a liter I hope that includes installation and disposal

Certainly much more cost effective way. This was a good reminder as my 2020 R1250GSA will need and earl change in a few weeks. JUst ordered up from my usual haunts
