Did you ever figure this out?
Hi there,
Nope ; just riding and so far so good... No breakage.

Although I have other issues now, the left switch is playing up. Ah this "german" build quality is really not up to my expectations!

Last time I checked the camshafts and inner parts all seemed fine. Considering the costs of parts and the unwillingness of BMW to acknowledge the problem I've given up trying to solve this annoyance.

Just pull the edge of rubber grip at the inner side, there is a torx bolt behind. Tightening this bolt keeps compete left switch in place.

Thanks for sharing ; sadly I fear the issue is more complex, I went ahead and posted detailed info. I need to dismantle and analyse the part.

I had a Harley Panhead that was noisy even when you ran the pushrods too tight. I noticed some of the tinwork was loose. It was a awful noise. Sometimes noises just happen and are not indicative of imminent disaster. My panhead was a reliable old girl and served me well. I am a little concerned about the racket that occasionally invades my riding bliss. I am not concerned enough to try oil analysis, but on my next oil change I shall cut the filter open with a blade style muffler tool and also drain oil into a nice clean pan and take the hot oil out into bright sunshine and swirl it a bit. If I see more sparkles than seems appropriate or find lots of fillings in the folds of the filter media I shall investigate further. Otherwise I shall continue to, "Ride it like I stold it." I shall concentrate on enjoying this earthly thing. Be Grateful to GOD for giving me this vehicle to enjoy His beautiful, awesome creation. I strive to enjoy my possessions and not let my possessions possess me.

I found. the problem, there is no problem with the engine or others, there is a sound from the exhaust (after the exhaust mounts from the engine). I did not use burnt tape and put about 10 cm around the exhaust from the engine and attach them with pipe clamps, so the sound is gone, the sound is due to heavy combustion (sparks at the exhaust root) of the engine when there is heavy acceleration, nothing else.

So the tape cuts the noise that metallic pipe can't?

There are sparks from the engine compartment hitting the exhaust pipe. There is nothing wrong with the engine, with the burnt (no metal belt), out belt you no longer hear the noise (rattles) with hard acceleration.you can by belt from temu.
