Afternoon people.
I have a 2011 1200GS and just noticed a slight up and down movement on the handlebars.
It’s a tad concerning as I have never noticed it before.

Everything is tight and secure.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

it’s due a service with BMW at the end of the month and I don’t really want my trousers pulled down by them.

So if I can sort it out before hand that would be better.

Welcome to the forum. You should be very concerned—I wouldn’t ride it.

Either steering stem bearings or loose fork tubes/stantions would be my first things to look at. A video on a later edition GS than yours (with terribly annoying audio) on the steering stem bearings:

Just to update everyone.
I got the new bearing from Plymouth BMW including new nuts and bolt.

stripped it all down and replaced the bearing with no problems.

Everything is all good now.
Just turned 91500 miles
😁
