Anyone know why the 2021 model for the US wasn't equipped with this feature ? Is there a way to enable it ?

Mine is european 2021 Tripple Black. It comes with multifunctional rear indicators but as I refused to pay for adaptive light as an option, I was "punished" by BMW with two things:
  • Front Low beam is always on and DRL in main beam is so dim, it doesn't make that "C" and "x" effect that makes the bike identifiable as a GS from distance. You can barely notice it,
  • Rear indicators are those dark ones, multifunctional, but they work only as regular indicators, not more that that.
Maybe someday someone will come out with knowledge on how to enable those things with software. What pisses me off more is the front light, the way it is. I know the bike has light sensor on the dash because I installed Hex EzCan and it dims my Aux lights at night, that are connected in one of its channels because it "reads" bike's light sensor.

What multi function do they have? Fire photon torpedo's? Spray out pheromones' to bring in da ladies?

My turn signals blink. Not sure i can ask for any more from them.
Turn signals are always on ( dimmed ) but also act as a brake light.... Not sure it will attract the ladies, but would get the additional attention of someone behind you...

I suspect it is due to different laws. That is, the US specifies that lights must be "XXX" and that prevents the multi-function lights you are talking about. Same thing with the yellow windshields on the recent yellow/black colored bikes. They have to be clear windshields in the US so the bike does not come with the yellow windscreen here.

US bikes must by law have headlight on when the engine is running, we even get a US-spec left housing with no headlight switch. My gripe is that BMW disabled the ability to switch between mph and kph, an important function for those of us who ride between the US and Canada. And don't get me started on the TFT digital-only speedometer.

Similar issue with Dynamic Brake Light disabled on US models. This option was rejected by the US DOT, so all models sold in the US come with the option 5AB called Dynamic Brake Light Deletion. I wonder if HEX Code, the maker of the GS-911 Diagnostic tool, would be willing to program their tool to give us the option to reactivate Dynamic Brake Light option, and to let us select between MPH or km/h.
