Normally lurk through the forums to see what going on since 23’. Looking to get back on a GS after a couple year break. Had an 12’ oil head and a 15’ wet head in the past. For me nothing else compares. Hello from southwest Michigan!

I’ve done a lot of reading on them and vs the 1200. And have ridden my brother in laws 1250 (briefly). Is it that that good? Seems like everyone one loves it, but I also see the love for all the generations. Personally I find the 1300s ugly as sin.

If you’re looking for new there’s still some 1250GSA’s kicking around show rooms for pretty good deals. If not well you’ve had them enough to know what to look for. I’ve ridden the 1300 and it’s not enough to make me want to trade my 1250GSA. That and I’m still not a fan of the new headlight. As hard as I try.

I picked up a loaded 2018 1200 GS a year ago. The features (TFT, quick shifter, hill assist, etc.) were all there minus the 1250s shift cam technology, but the lower price compared to the 1250 justified my decision at the time.

I think if i were looking at the used market today I would either pick up a 1250 GSA or try to find a good deal on a 1300, but that is not to say that I am not happy with my 1200. In my humble opinion the TFT was the biggest improvement on the 1250 and the only feature that is helping me keep my 1200. I had a 2013 1200 GS and feel a big difference in my 2018. The black switches feel a lot better than the gray switches on my 2013 and the transmission feels a lot better too.

I ride with many guys on 1250s and don't see or feel much of a difference compared to my 2018 1200. I plan on keeping my 1200 until the future 1350s come out. I will make a decision then on whether I get a used late model 1300 or get a new 1350.

Only thing I can be certain of is it will be another GS.

In my areas 1200s are definitely a better deal and all the 1250s seem to be low suspension versions. TFT to me is cool but at the same time I enjoy the analog side of the previous computer. I’d love the 18 with the blue/white scheme but are few far between.

That’s what attracted me to the R1250GSA Trophy. It was at least more blue.

If your pockets are deep enough the 1300 is a great bike and worth the price of admission based on my experience with my 25 1300GSA. The blind spot monitors, adaptive cruise control and power windscreen are great features and worth the upgrade and the auto-leveling suspension is a plus along with a nice bump in HP/torque. With that said the 1250 is a good bike to and you can-not go wrong with a 1250 and there's deals to be had on lightly used 1250's so if you decide on a 1300 you win and if you decide on a 1250 you win. Test ride both and then decide which bike better suits your riding needs.
