Newby here! I'm in the hunt for lower crash bars for my 2018 GS. I really like the product this company is pitching however I can't seem to find an answer as to whether the Valve covers are removable for service without first removing the bars, and will they fit over the OEM cylinder guards? Anyone help would be appreciated.

Hello Murcam66. In case this helps - I just recently put on the Outback Motortek bars on my 1250 GS. They cover enough of the cylinder that I am not putting on cylinder covers. It appears to me on this bike that I should be able to get the cover loose, but I think I would have to remove the bars for the valve check to get the cover completely out of the way. But for spark plugs and the oil cap access it is free/clear. It is not that bad though - only 4 bolts to remove the bars on each side.

Since you have a 1200, Illium Works also sells bars for the 1200GS which may be worth considering - I have their set for my K1600, plus I bought their side stand footplates as well. Unfortunately, they do not have one for the 1250.
