Can I remove both wheels of 2012 R1200gs using only the center stand?

I'm sure you can use a car jack forward of the center stand but that would be mighty precarious. Others have hoisted the front end with straps to the ceiling. You really should use a motorcycle jack or remove the wheels one at a time.

Depending on how handy you are, you could make a stand to replace the front wheel. Pull out the axle, remove wheel, insert stand, and replace axle. The base needs to be pretty wide and long, and the width at the top would need to be the same as the width between the forks.

Using a strap to hold the center stand in the deployed position can't hurt.

I assume you are getting tires, and I don't know if the shop needs the axle to balance the wheel.

(p.s.) I just found this picture. Not really what I was talking about, but close

This is done to take wheels for tire change.....lucky he is very close so I might take one at a time, although he will do the work if I ride over.
Thanks for the options....I enjoy some work on my own

From Planet Dirt

Hi there;
I do most of the maintenance in my bike. From changing engine and final drive oil and tires to calibrate valves.
Nothing is real easy but if you know what you are doing and have the right tools it turns into something you will enjoy.....because we all love our bikes....
About changing tires, you better buy a motorcycle jack, I bought mine 7 years ago and I can't think on a better tool to do anything on any bike. There are inexpensive ones.....somewhere around U$ 100 and you can go up on that price a lot if you want a fancy one. Mine was U$ 90 at the time.
....and when changing tires do one at a time......it can get ugly real fast just changing one tire so I can't imagine taking both off of the bike at the same time. You need balance changing tires. Go on you tube and look for videos on how to do it. There are a couple that explain it really well......don't forget you need the right tools.
