Tubes or tubeless?

Okay.... just purchased a new front tire. I will be removing wheel and returning to the Custom Cycle shop next week to have the tire mounted. I have spoked wheels. I am having a dilemma as to whether to have tire mounted tubeless or with a tube. Right now I do not know if the current setup is tube or tubeless. Never even thought about it and even carry a tire plugging kit and a Best Rest air pump in my side box.

Thought #1 - If I have a tube set up The plugs and pump will be worthless.

Thought #2 - If I have a tubeless setup, in an emergency I can plug and pump.

What is the consensus thought please. I do trips so it would be a concern.

Apologies if this subject has been beaten to death.

If the spokes are on the outside of the rim it's tubeless.

Personally I like tubeless. When I bought my Woody's Wheel set, I had them do the tubeless set-up. But I also carry a spare tube just in case. My Tiger XCx and Africa Twin DCT ran tubes. Never had an issue but I like the "thought" of it being easier to just plug a tire if it gets a nail or something.

Definitely tubeless. Advantages as mentioned above. Disadvantage would be if ridden flat long enough to cause the bead to unseat. Hard to carry enough air to seat the beads.

Dismounting wheel and then the tire to repair/replace a tube is no fun.

I prefer tubes for a bass or guitar amp.

Just in time to replace tire. 9 year old tire with "bumps" on the surface . I believe there is a better description than bumps but I am at a loss. Imagine this tire could have blown at any riding moment and could have been catastrophic. Whew.

Tubes or tubeless?
