hi everyone, newbie here and will be picking up my new 2016 R1200GSA maybe in a month, but more realistically April.
So my canadian dealer paperwork has an option called "control brake light". Does anyone know if this is the same as dynamic?
Curious if it is and why Canada would have it activated but not US

No idea, but have not seen it called that. It's always Dynamic Brake Light and it's included with ABS Pro, I think.

If I can get it turned on while in Europe, perhaps just telling my dealer that I have had that done and don't change it will be enough. I assume the worst might be a fix it ticket when I return to the USA and I'm good with that.
cool! let us know. Maybe you could ask the techs over there what is required to do it? Is it software, hardware, firmwear upgrade, or some switch, or "secret" pressing of a certain sequence of buttons. You can't find out any of that. There's a black hole of information about it. It could be a DIY job, or not.
The wisdom of the internet states it's held up in US DOT. Can't confirm that. I've written them and no response.

so I went in today to finalize my paperwork and asked about that listing "control brake light", and it is indeed the dynamic brake light which is part and parcel with ABS Pro.
However like the US, the Canadian version is N/A either. Guess the powers that be probably don't think we can distinguish the difference between a signal light and a brake light?

my brake light flasher

This is my brake light mod.

I have a R1200GS 2010, with the led brake light

I have bought this brake light flasher.

cost $3.99 incl shipping

Its easy to attach into the wireing. When the brake lever is applied, the led brake light gives four short flashes,
followed by four slower flashes, and then goes steady on. The canbus generates no fault code :wink2:

This module works best with Led lights. I tried it also with a 21W brake light and the four short flashes are to quick for a normal lamp.

I used a Whelen TIR3 LED mounted in place of the reflector on the rear (it fits perfectly) and wired up a Skene IQ160 which they no longer make as they have gone to more advanced controllers with some having nearly identical flashing/patterns as the BMW dynamic light and very reasonably priced.

$3.99 vs $115.00. :surprise:
Just tested my $6.99 12V LED Controller Box Flash Module Universal Motorcycle Car Brake Stop Light.

Just out of curiosity and safety I hooked the device up to an LED conversion style socket two way bulb and hot wired the module into my Centech - AP 1 fused power block. Tested just the way it should. 3-4 quick bursts, followed by 3-4 longer bursts then a solid brake light. Next step is hard wire the unit into my stop light harness.
